Deep Purple ve Rainbow
gruplarının efsanevi gitaristi Ritchie Blackmore, 1990'ların ortalarına
doğru hard-rock'dan uzaklaşıp rönesans müziğine merak sardı. O zamanlar
nişanlısı olan Candice Night ile birlşikte Blackmore's Night adlı
grubu kurdu, ve rönesans, new age, folk ve rock müziklerini kaynaştırmak
amacı ile dünyanın her tarafından müzisyenler topladı. Zaman zaman emektar
Fender Stratocaster gitarını çalsa da, ağırlıklı olarak akustik gitar ve
birtakım eski çağ telli çalgılar kullandı. Blackmore'un akustik
gitar melodileri, Candice Night'ın mistik sesi ve aralarında
mandolinlerin, klavyelerin, blok flütlerin, kemanların, deflerin, askeri
davulların ve laternaların da bulunduğu çeşitli çalgılar ile kaynaştı.
İlk albümleri Shadow of the Moon 1998'de yayınlandı. Onu
1999'da, Under A Violet Moon adlı albüm izledi. En başarılı
albümleri olan Fires At Midnight 2001'de çıktı. 2003 yılında
ise, Past Times With Good Company adlı konser albümü, ve hemen
ardından Ghost Of A Rose adlı albümleri çıktı.
Blackmore's Night, Ghost of A Rose adlı albümün turnesi
kapsamında, 11 Temmuz 2004'de, Yedikule Zindanlarında shne alacak.
